Pew: Sermon Notes, Bible Study

Write to wuyuxai@gmail.com and you will get a reply from the person who built the app. If you write from Settings → Send feedback inside Pew, the version and device are filled in for you, which usually saves a round trip.

Common questions

Does recording keep going when the screen turns off?
Yes. Put the phone face-down on the pew and lock it; the recording continues. Stopping it means unlocking and opening the app.
Why is there no transcript for my sermon?
On-device transcription covers 11 languages and needs iOS 26 or later. Outside those, everything else still works: you record, you take your own notes, and the audio is kept. The app says which case you are in on the transcript tab.
The notes say the recording was too quiet.
Phone speakers in a large room fight echo. Sitting nearer, or resting the phone on the pew in front rather than in a bag or pocket, changes the result more than any setting does.
What does the free plan include?
Recording, transcription, your own notes, search, Scripture links and pastor mode are free, with no time limit and no ads. The free plan also includes three sets of AI notes in total. The subscription removes that limit and changes nothing else.
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us: iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Cancelling there stops the renewal and keeps access until the period you paid for ends.
I paid on another device and Pew says I am on the free plan.
Open the subscription screen and tap Restore purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account that bought it.
Which Bible translations are included?
Public-domain translations covering 21 languages are on the device and work offline. Modern copyrighted translations are not included; tapping a verse we cannot show opens bible.com instead.
Is my recording uploaded?
No. Audio never leaves the phone. If you turn on AI notes, only the text of the transcript is sent. See the privacy policy.
I deleted a sermon by mistake.
Deleting removes the recording, the transcript and the notes from the device, and it cannot be undone from inside the app. If you have an iPhone backup from before the deletion, restoring that backup brings it back.
A translation reads badly in my language.
Please tell us which sentence and what it should say. Pew is translated into 35 languages and I cannot proofread all of them myself, so a reader who speaks the language is usually the first to spot a bad one.

Reporting a problem

What helps most: what you tapped, what you expected, what happened instead, and the line under Recording details on the sermon (it carries the format, the audio session and the length). Use Settings → Send feedback and that arrives with the version and device already attached.
